ABOUT ME
Wesley Knust is a music educator, pianist, and community arts leader committed to helping learners of all ages discover joy and confidence in music-making. With over a decade of teaching and ensemble leadership experience, Wesley is known for cultivating supportive, expressive learning environments where students feel encouraged to explore, create, and grow.

Wesley is the owner of Wesley Knust Music Studio LLC, where he teaches private piano, brass, and music theory lessons, along with group piano and early childhood music classes. His teaching philosophy emphasizes play-based learning, improvisation, and musical expression from the very first lesson — building musicians who are not only skilled, but musically curious.

He currently serves as Adjunct Professor of Music and Choir Director at St. Clair County Community College, where he directs the Community Choir and teaches courses in music. Wesley is also the Director of Music Ministries at Farmington First United Methodist Church, where he leads the chancel choir, directs the handbell choir, and coordinates worship music. In addition, Wesley teaches early childhood and elementary general music at Schoolhouse Montessori Academy, working with learners from toddlers through sixth grade.

As a pianist and collaborator, Wesley has served as a choral accompanist, pit orchestra musician, restaurant pianist, and Solo and Ensemble coach. His performance experience spans classical, sacred, contemporary, and jazz traditions.

Wesley holds a Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Saginaw Valley State University. His graduate research focused on incorporating improvisation and composition into piano instruction for adolescent beginners — a pedagogical approach that continues to shape his teaching today.

Wesley’s work has been recognized locally and nationally. His studio was named the Best Music School in Eastpointe for both 2024 and 2025 by Quality Business Awards. In 2024, he was included in Marquis Who’s Who in Music Education. He was selected as one of the Top 10 Music Teachers in Midland, Michigan by Lessons.com in 2020, and the same year was honored as the Lessonface Gospel Piano Teacher of the Year.

Whether working with a preschool beginner, a returning adult student, or a community ensemble, Wesley’s goal is the same: to ignite a lifelong love of music-making.
